Turn your home into a castle on a budget

Yes. You can paint linoleum. Should you? Maybe, there’s a nice straight forward answer for you. There’s a few tips to keep in mind.

1. For durability, the key is to seal the floor several times.

2. Aesthetically, I think variation and different shades of color needs to be added, these occur in all other types of flooring, otherwise it just looks like a painted floor.

3. Paint will obviously not change the texture of your floor, so keep in mind that you will still have that diamond pattern showing through.

4. Also, carefully consider cost. Paint seems like it will be the cheapest, but if you are working with a small area, once you factor in the primer, paint, and sealer, it may be just as cheap to lay down tile.

So I say give it a try, if you don’t like it you will only have to take up the vinyl you were going to replace anyways. If you decide to go for it, HGTV has a great video with step by step instructions, just scroll down the list to “Vinyl Floor Facelift”. Have you ever painted a vinyl floor? Would you paint vinyl?
