Which Decorating Show are You? Personality Quiz

One of my goals in life is to never be on TV. I do not want to walk into a room covered in hay that was decorated as a surprise & act like it is the thought that counts. I make sure to tell people, “I watch decorating shows because it’s SOMEONE ELSE’S HOUSE, never let any of them inside, do you hear?”. That’s probably why I have all the friends. I have made a new absolutely free personality quiz called “Which decorating show are you?” My result is “Design on a Dime”, which is true, I hate spending money on decorating. How accurate is the quiz? Leave a comment & let me know which decorating show you are.

No Sew Curtains

Fine, I’ll admit it, I’m lazy, very lazy. So if the curtains are difficult to open, I just won’t do it. So I go to Wal-mart, they have really pretty but really expensive curtain rings, those won’t work because they are expensive, enough said. Instead I buy a few packs of small gold clip on curtain rings, a pack is under $2 in my area. Then I just clip up my curtains and stand there in amazement opening & closing them over & over & making everyone come in to see how easy the curtains are to open & close.

I’ve also just used shower curtain rings as long as they clip on, painted them dark brown and sponged a little black over them so they look like wood. This imitates the much more expensive wooden curtain rings that have to be sewed onto drapes, (Sewing, bah, like that will happen) plus they are so far up they look real. This is also great because you can use anything that is fabric for curtains without having to sew, a sheet, scarf, or just some pretty billowly sheer fabric, anything that is fabric that want to see on your window, you can use. These are fast & easy no sew window treatments. Works for me!

David wins Design Star!

I get embarrassed for other people because I figure they don’t know what fools they are making of themselves so someone has to be embarrassed for them. This trait had most of the final episode of “Design Star” on mute. Not even Ramona wearing a superman costume like it was everyday clothes could save this episode from being boring. It was the basic end to a reality show, cast reunion with everyone acting like they don’t hate each other & laughing at clips of their old fights. The only thing this episode reminded me of, was I was sad that Joseph was sent home so early in the competition. The patio that he & Tim designed was the only room in the entire competition that caught my eye. Plus, he had such integrity when he took the fall for his team when the mistake over the table was made, & he had a great personality, & he seemed to have real talent.  I was hoping that Alice & David would host a show together, but no such luck. Alice & David both won cars. Then finally David was chosen as the next “Design Star”, while Alice graciously accepted defeat. I will miss this show & hope it comes back next season, although I doubt many people will be able to match the class & good sportsmanship of the final competitors. What did you think of the Design Star Finale?  Was the right Design Star chosen to host their own show?  Leave a comment & let me know.

Virtual Paint Chooser

My pet peeve is houses that remind of lunch meat. For some reason, people around here tend to paint their houses in the exact pinkish tone of bologna. I don’t think it’s intentional who looks at their house and says “I want to put a lot of work & money into my house so it can look like bologna for the next 20 years”. One of the best things we did when redoing the exterior our house was to buy a paint program where we could test different textures & colors. This helped us pick out 2-3 good colors to test and then we could see what it looked like on the outside of our house. I’m not affiliated with this company I just am a big fan of things that are free, and trying to save people from lunchmeat paint colors. This is my favorite free program to use, pick a house that looks like yours & go crazy. It’s coloring books for grown ups. Works for me!
