I wanted a canopy for my bedroom, but it’s me, I wanted it to be free! So I took a white sheer curtain that I had & threaded 7″ of ribbon through the curtainrod pocket. I pulled it tight, then hung it from a hook in my ceiling with the extra ribbon. The circumference (Check me out using words like circumference, don’t get used to it) is much smaller than the one in the picture, but it still works. It is an instant bedroom makeover. There’s no sewing involved & takes mere seconds. This would be gorgeous using a tapestry curtain for an elegant master bedroom. For a kids room you can hot glue on feathers, fake flowers, or ribbon.

Oh my preteen just feel in love with your idea. Now I just have to figure out how to add a canopy to a bunk bed.

Every girl with a romantic streak wants a bedroom canopy! I did exactly the same thing as you – only not quite “free” but it was cheap, at least – I picked up some hot-pink sheers for a dollar each at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. FWIW, the only real difference was, I threaded mine on an old hula hoop to get the bigger circumferance up top, then fastened a ribbon at three places on the hoop and brought the three ribbons up together to the hook on the ceiling.
