Trunk or Treat: Safe Halloween

Halloween is every kids dreams, & a lot of parents worst nightmare. First you have to get the costume, then the candy, figure out how to keep them safe & warm, then worry about them all night, & pay for the dentists bills later. We live in the country, so houses are pretty far apart. My church does what we call a “trunk or treat”. Everyone comes & parks their cars in the parking lot & opens up their trunks, where they keep the candy. Then all of the kids go around to each car & go “trunk or treating”. It’s great because they get aren’t out in the cold for too long, don’t get too tired, you know everyone there & can keep an eye on them, but they still get to see their friends & wear their costumes, & get candy! Works for me!

  2. My church does that, too! This will be our first year to participate.

  3. What a cool idea! We’ve been struggling with Halloween this year. I’m still not sure what will do, since we’re new to the area.

  4. My old church did that too. It was a lot of fun.

  5. I love this idea! Even living in a subdivision, the kids often get too tired by the time we make the rounds from house to house.

  6. Hey my church does the exact same thing! But we live in the city.
    its alot of fun!

  7. It’s a great idea, my kids love it, only problem is it’s like trick or treating on steroids, the kids come back with 25 pounds of candy in under 10 minutes. A lot of sugar . . .
