Can you paint carpet? Most of us have some carpet in our home that we hate, whether it’s the pea green shag from the 70′s, or the ill thought out forest green of the 90′s (I have this too, we should form a support group). New carpet is expensive. Expensive=bad. So there has to be a quick fix right? Hildi from “Trading Spaces” has tried to paint carpet so let’s learn from her results. Here is an article where painting carpet was experimented with. They came to the same conclusion I did, NO. I’d suggest buying a large area rug instead to cover most of the carpet. So basically, when you get paint on your shirt, would you want that on your floor? Would you be comfortable with the fact you would never want to have bare foot on your rug ever again? Only if you are Hildi & it isn’t your house.

Prayer rocks were an idea picked up in church when I was a kid. My mom brought us home & we each picked out a medium sized rock from the yard. Then we sat down at the table together & talked about why prayers were important, & that we all have trouble remembering to say them every night. So we each got to use the coveted acrylic craft paints to paint our rocks with whatever we wanted. My mom showed us how we could make dots by putting paint on the handle of paintbrush. It was wonderful together time. After the rocks dried, we each put them by the side of our beds. Then, when we climbed into bed, we usually stepped on the cold rock that reminded us, say your prayers. Hence the name, prayer rock. Works for me!

Martha Stewart is amazing. Sarakastic is also amazing, just not in a Martha Stewart kind of way. Sarakastic needs to spend less than nothing on craft projects, & have less than 5 steps in a project. Sarakastic also needs to talk about herself in the third person less. So here are some Halloween crafts from Martha, that I, I mean Sarakastic, could actually handle.
Martha makes even jack-o’-lanterns elegant but looking at them I don’ t know why I haven’t thought of it. I guess that is why she is Martha & I am not. Try a monogrammed, harlequin, or spiral jack-o’-lantern. These are even pretty enough to line your walk way or use as a centerpiece.
Eight no-sew Halloween costumes. Even shows how to making a jelly fish outfit from bubble wrap! Then there’s an adorable witch costume out of garbage bags.
Have the food be part of your decor with these great Halloween themed treats. Learn how to make monsters, vampire bats, & even a Cyclops out of cupcakes, marshmallows, or candy.

This is a great beginning crochet project. You can crochet these roses that have so many uses in not a lot of time & for not a lot of money. You can stick a pin on the back & turn it into a brooch, sew them onto a scarf, or glue the smaller ones to barrettes. It took me 20-45 minutes to create each of these great roses. I especially love the navy one I did in chenille yarn it looks kind of like velvet. This is a great idea for Christmas presents, they are virtually free if you already have some scrap yarn & a crochet hook. It might also be cool to see how these did on etsy or at a craft fair. I used the free pattern at lionbrand yarn. It’s free ( I know I already said I just like things that are free. They have lots of great free knitting & crocheting projects if you register with them (also free).
