Angel TreeWe are a two tree family. We have the regular big tree with all the ornaments & this is where we keep the presents. Then we have a smaller tree we call the angel tree. Every year we get a new angel ornament to remember my sister who passed away. If I could only load my car with possessions, the angel ornaments would be one of the first things to come with me. It is a way to remember without being sad & to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas: religion, family & love. Works for me!

You know when you find a fly in your soup, you don’t really feel like eating soup again anytime soon, if ever? So is the case with HGTV’s new show “24 Hour Design”. The concept is fine, 10 hours to redo a room . It’s been done before, & better, but that isn’t enough to turn my stomach. The fly in the soup is the designer Angelo Surmelis. He’s cute, his designs are pretty good, & he interacts well with everyone else & has great energy. The catch: he used to be on a show called “Clean Sweep” which was the bane of the decorating show world. So maybe “Clean Sweep” is the real fly in the soup. Either way, “24 Hour Design” makes me sick to my stomach.

iconicon I always have post Christmas cookie withdrawal. It’s not as serious as it sounds. It’s not an actual medical condition. I know, I know, it sounds like it is, but it’s not. I get used to neighbors & friends dropping off fresh cookies or baked goods. This is when I pull out one of my favorite presents: gifts in a jar. These are usually layers of dried goods in a jar with instructions. It contains everything you need to make brownies, cookies etc. You just have to add the eggs, milk etc. & bake. At first I was like, “Why would someone give me something I have to cook?”. Then I realized I could save it, (I’m quick like that), so I didn’t have to eat all the Christmas cookies at once. Plus, these look really fun to make & give away to neighbors, teachers, or even use for bake sales.
