The last style that was prevalent in the 1990′s was the birth of Contemporary design. More often then not, this ended up looking like the Mad Hatter’s house gone horribly wrong, & here is why:
Two colors could be used in Contemporary design, deep purple & gold.
Slate was our friend, put it on the fireplace, the floor, the coffee table, any available surface.
There was only one fabric to choose from if you wanted contemporary design, purple & gold swirls.
A matching wallpaper border was optional.
At least one piece of furniture be painted in a harlequin pattern.
Pillows, lots & lots of pillows, but they couldn’t be anything special. Each pillow had to be quite ordinary, & there was just a lot of them.
This style might not seem that outdated, it isn’t, so it is an easy fix for anyone looking for an update.
