Since I was just talking about the picturesque town of Stars Hallow (Gilmore Girls), I thought I’d share what I know about it. One the Season 1 DVD special features it states that there are several towns named Stars Hallow, although none of them are in Connecticut. I’ve googled it numerous time & haven’t been able to find an actual location of Stars Hallow. It’s like the lost city of Atlantis. Although I know that the Dragonfly Inn was originally on the set of the Waltons. If I was metaphorical, I would say that there is a bit of stars Hallow in all of us, but dangit I want an actual place where I can visit & hang out with Luke & Mrs. Kim. It’s probably for the best that I can’t find it because then I’d have to move.
The Gilmore Girls House
"Gilmore Girls" will be ending tonight, & I just realized that I haven’t written about Lorelai’s home makeover. I guess I better hurry if I’m going to write this, we have no time, no time people. Actually we have about 5 hours & 43 minutes, not that I’m counting.
Like everything else when the new creators took over the show, things got a little spruce. Paris got highlights in her hair, even though she’s totally not the highlight kind of person. The Gilmore house was changed quite a bit, even though it hadn’t really been touched for 5 or 6 years. The vintage kitchen tiles are suddenly a little peppier, Lorelei’s bedroom is completely different. Plus, there was another makeover when Lorelai got rid of everything that Luke had touched after they had broken up.
However, it just wasn’t kept true to the Gilmore name. The look is very uncluttered. That’s so not Gilmore, they always have monkey lamps around the house, & rabbi statues. Lorelai was very excited that she was going to buy a new bedroom set, but it was much uglier, & older looking than the one that Luke inherited that caused such a fuss. I’ll admit that they tried to be true to the Gilmores & kept the new furniture vintage looking, but like everything else in this season, it just missed the mark. The Gilmore have style, they live in a home, look how amazingly the Dragonfly Inn is decorated. Maybe it’s a metaphor for Lorelai’s empty life, but I don’t want a metaphor, I want pretty. I feel like the house doesn’t have the soul in it that it once did. I just hope that the turtle with the key in it is still on the porch.

Yet another easy headbord idea
Whenever I go to garage sales I see a lot of beautiful frames that are missing their glass. I always want to buy them but I know I will never take the effort to go get new glass cut. An easy substitute headboard is to hang a whole bunch of empty picture frames, either along one wall, or just over the bed. This can be adapted to suit any style.
- For an eclectic look you can staple fabric into the back of some of the frames, or even paint different colors on the wall underneath them.
- For a more modern look you can paint the frames all the same color, & keep them the same size so they look like a giant shoji screen.
- For a shabby chic look you can distress the frames or leave them in their natural state.
This project is very easy, & will cost you next to nothing & will make a big statement in your room
