The Forgotten Room

I was watching a house buying show, (can’t remember which one because every single channel seems to have at least seven of this shows, it’s a requisite to be on television these days). I’m always shocked to see that a million dollars only buys you a few hundred square feet in most parts of the country.

It makes sense then to try & maximize the square footage of a home. One room we often forget, is the garage. It seems our reasoning is, “it’s just the garage”. However, it’s the first room that most of us see when we come home. (That is if your garage is clean enough to actually park a car in, mine isn’t). Just a reminder, if you feel like you’re running out of space to decorate, don’t forget the garage.

Confession

I have a confession to make. We have a two car garage. We can’t even fit one car in the garage. In fact, a car has never been parked in our garage. We are in serious need of garage storage. Carguygarage has thousands of products just for garages. They should have something to help me. Their goal is to make the garage another room in your home. I’m in love with their stylish storage cabinets. I may actually be able to fit a car in my garage with that.

It’s not a matter of life & death, it’s just orange

warmroom.jpg

This picture is a perfect example of how to decorate with orange. Have almost everything else in the room neutral with pops of color. This especially works great if you live in an apartment & can’t paint the walls. Just a few things to have in mind while decorating.

  • Let the orange speak for itself, it’s quite vibrant.
  • Orange brings instant warmth to any room.
  • It’s just decorating, if you don’t like it, you can change it.

Why orange is my favorite color

orange.jpgorangecurtain.jpgorangeflower.jpg

Orange is my favorite color. I do like to look at it, but it’s also my favorite color because of a pair of orange pants I used to own. My favorite joke even involves an orange. (Yes, I’m the only person who finds this joke funny. No I did not make it up). The joke goes like this:

“One day a man walked into a bar & he was perfectly normal except that he had an orange for a head. The bartender asks him about his story. The man with an orange for a head replies, ‘One day I was walking along the beach & I picked up a lamp. I rubbed off the dust & a genie appeared saying that I could have three wishes for freeing him. For the first wish I wished for a beautiful wife, & a beautiful wife appeared. For my second wish, I wished for a million dollars & I got a million dollars..’

The bartender stops the man, expecting some trickery on the part of the genie & asks him what his third wish was.

The man with an orange for a head replies, I wished….

I had an orange for a head”.

So when I see orange, I think of this joke & the many other orange things I love, which is why it’s my favorite color. Why is your favorite color your favorite?

The summer of siding

Last summer was the longest summer of my entire life. Summers used to be filled with relaxing & reading. However, this was the summer of siding replacement. We decided to replace the siding ourselves (big mistake), & then had to paint it, & put on second, & third, & even fourth coats. What really kills me is that we will just have to do it all again in a few years.

If you live in Houston you can avoid all that by visiting the ALL-Tex site where you can get information on Houston replacement windows, siding, sunrooms, carports & much more. I learned that a good set of windows makes the house quieter, cooler, more secure & even healthier because you’ll have less allergens entering the home. If you are going to tackle a big project like this, go to the experts. Trust me, you do not want to have a summer of siding.
