Recently I’ve watched "What not to wear" the wedding edition, & a bunch of decorating shows have had wedding specials. I’m practically an expert now. It seems like more & more brides are having their weddings at home. One bride even put a down payment on a house instead of renting a reception hall. This might be a good way to go, or it may be the last straw that turns you into a bridezilla. Here are some things to keep in mind when trying to decide if an at home wedding is right for you.
1. Do you have enough space? Not only will you need enough space to accommodate however many guests that you want, but you will need separate spaces for the reception, ceremony & possibly a dance floor.
2. How much work does the space need? Does it already offer beautiful landscaping, fountains, & arbors, or will those things have to be built?
3. Is it worth the stress? Does the space have some sentimental attachment to you, or are you just trying to save money?
Having a wedding at home can make for a unique, & meaningful location. However, the little costs can add up fast, as well as all of the extra planning, so take this into consideration when scheduling your event.
