I’ve been watching "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" & it seems like her apartment should be outdated, & the shag carpeting probably is, but I still like the overall feel of it. I think all of us have wished for such an apartment at some time. Here are some decorating tips to having a modern day MTM apartment.
1. Studio apartments can be cool. It’s better to have them look like a living space, than just have a bed sitting in the middle of nowhere.
2. Have your signature. For Mary it was a big "M" on the wall. This meant that even though she lived in a rental, it felt like hers. It also meant that when she left, she could take the important part with her.
3. Every girl needs a closet as big as the rest of her place.
4. It helps if you have quirky neighbors who are always popping in & being hilarious. Granted, it doesn’t happen a whole lot in real life, but when it does, it really makes a place feel like home.
Mary Tyler Moore’s apartment wasn’t great, but it was her first "real" place all by herself & she didn’t care that it was only a rental.

I love my home office. I spent a lot of time decorating it just so. My only complaint is that I always seem to be in here. It doesn’t even seem like I can get through a movie unless I watch it in this room. My work is definitely starting to suffer because I have “blogging fever”, like cabin fever, except with a blog. Even if I make a lot of money, my friends don’t seem to remember who I am.
When I try to work on a different computer, I find out that I’m addicted to bookmarks, & can’t remember the url’s that I need in order to do my job. I start missing my home computer. This is why RemotePC is so cool, you can access your home computer from anywhere you have an Internet connection & it’s just $4.95 a month, & there’s even a free thirty day trial. This costs a lot less than gotomypc, it’s compatible with Vista & 10 users can share the same desktop. I definitely need to consider remote access so that I can actually go outside again. This way I can have a life to actually blog about.
There are only about a million things to remember when planning a wedding. It seems like something is either forgotten, or the budget just won’t stretch anymore. This doesn’t mean that you have to forego wedding favors. One of my favorite wedding favors was also a place card. On the inside of the place card the bride or groom had written a personal note. The note told us why we were invited to the wedding & the effect we had on their life. It’s one of the few favors that I’ve kept. Yes it takes some work, but it’s virtually free, & definitely something that will be remembered

It’s interesting to see how decorating influences wedding choices. A few years ago, brown would’ve been unheard of for a wedding. People would’ve said "Umm the bride has offically lost it & is no longer capable of making any wedding plans". Now, it’s one of the most chic ideas anywhere, besides the fact that everyone loves chocolate Here are some reasons why chocolate brown makes a great wedding color.
- It balances out a more feminine palette, for instance it looks great with pink.
- It’s very dramatic & goes with everything. This means that technically you will need less decorations because wherever the brown is, will become a focal point, which means that you’ll save money.
- Extremely in vogue.
The bottom line is if you want to have a unique wedding but don’t know what you want, think about what you like in decorating & translate that into your big day.
