Catch & Release Decorating

I recently watched "Catch & Release".  Like most movies of that genre, the best thing about it was the house they all lived in.  Here are some decorating lessons that I learned from the movie:

If your house has an old library, you can easily turn it into a bedroom for a cool effect.

Having cool roommates make a huge difference in how you feel about your personal space.

If you want your house to have a craftsman look, you can just make a faux coved ceiling by letting the ceiling color come down a few inches onto your wall color.  This wasn’t in the movie, but I thought about how to make a craftsman style while sitting through a long movie which shall remain nameless.

Every house should have a hammock.

If you have a beautiful view, show it off, let the focus be on the outdoors.  There’s nothing wrong with having a beautiful outdoor dining table.  In fact, there’s something insanely right about it.

So I guess this movie had some value after all.

Scrapbooking Brain Freeze

I know that it’s important to preserve memories. However, I just walk into the scrapbooking store & my brain freezes. I wander glassy eyed through the aisles, completely overwhelmed by everything. Plus, there was an unfortunate incident when I was younger when I scrapbooked by cutting all of the backgrounds out of my pictures & then gluing them on the same page.

This is why I was so excited to hear about digital scrapbooking. I can just put my pictures on the computer & be good to go. The only problem is that I never seem to get around to actually ordering prints of my digital photos, (bad I know). So if something happened to my computer I would be in huge trouble & lose years of memories. Which is why I need a online backup like Idrive. They have 2GB of backup that’s easy to restore & you can backup everything from documents to MP3′s. I love their slogan which is to “save the world, one computer at the time”. It’s so true because if I lost my hard drive I would lose so many things that are important to me. The best part is that it’s free, or just $4.95 for a pro account with UNLIMITED space. Yes I said unlimited.. I will definitely be trying this out because there are just too many things that I just can’t stand to lose.

I’d just like to give a shout out

to….well me.  Yes, I’m trying to bring back the phrase shout out, I really wish it had never left.  Anyways, the big news is that after years, I finally have all of my watercolors/brushes/papers, in one place.  That place is one of those big wooden boxes like all of the artists carry.  I’m sure my art will now improve exponentially. I’m a real artist!

My thoughts on gardening

I want to have a garden. I KNOW I should have a garden, in case of emergencies & in order to save money. However, it seems like I am always stopped by the deer, rabbits, & squirrels that frequent our yard, besides the fact that Utah has very extreme weather. I’m kicking myself now that I’ve found out how affordable Greenhouses are if you are shopping at the Online Discount Mart. I had never priced greenhouses before because I thought they were just too expensive. Shhh…don’t tell anyone that I was wrong.

The Monet of Seafood

I was looking through my old art portfolio & discovered that I am unusually talented at painting seafood.  This is unusual because I don’t really like seafood, & I live in the desert so I usually can’t even find it at the grocery store. I would much rather be talented at landscapes or even portraits.  Nope.  I’m the Monet of seafood.  Don’t believe me?  Here’s a salmon I painted:

Here’s a crustacean.

Van Gogh had his sunflowers, & I have this. Yup, I’ve got really mad skills.  Maybe I can get a job working for the advertising & artistic rendering department at Red Lobster.
