I’ve seen decorators suggest basically having an entire set of decorating “stuff” stored away for summer. Yes, it’s nice to have a change of decor. However, this can get pricey, & can you imagine how much room it would take to store two house loads of stuff? It would take, well two houses.
Besides the fact that you will only be using these things half as much, so they might seem outdated in a few years. I think there a few things that you can do, which are free, to decorate for summer.
- Roll up the rugs if at all possible & just go for a more casual feeling.
- If you have bamboo blinds, take down the curtains.
- Change out your accessories with beach glass or shells.
- Clean your windows & give everything a thorough dusting so it feels light & airy.
We dress down for summer, our house mine as well too.

The rugs are a good idea to roll up and put away… But there are some homes that need the rugs ’cause if not, the home looks utterly empty. Did you try this to your own home? ‘Cause I know that even though the rugs are a good idea, my home would just look plain… but instead, you should see some of the ideas that came up from the contestant from the season 2 of “Design Star” that will air on July 22nd @ 10pm on HGTV! If you watched the first season & liked it, you’ll definately like the second season! It’ll be fun and I know this because I work with them.
