My Fax Machine Needs Help

We’ve all had that one piece of office equipment that acts like it has been possessed. It’s usually whatever piece of office equipment that you need to use the most. It is usually broken in proportion to how much of a time crunch you are in.

Awhile ago, I was trying to fax something. The fax machine just wouldn’t work, & it took a lot of yelling & maybe a little cursing, & two hours to get it to send one simple fax. I was almost in tears. I kept thinking, “I’m a college graduate, & yet I can’t even get the fax machine to work”. In that time I probably could’ve driven to wherever I was sending the fax & delivered it in person. So, I think good office equipment is a wise investment. It actually saves you money & time in the long run.

PMC Telecom 2 is the place to go in the UK for any kind of office equipment, such as fax machines or Panasonic digital phones. A big part of being in business is knowing where to spend your money to save time. My cheap fax machine that is slowly eating away my free time is not helping me. I admit that now.

When I grow up

I love to look around at different paintings & try to interpret different styles. This really helps me see where I want to go as an artist. I feel like I’m a little kid wearing their father’s suit coat & talking about some day when I grow up.

I have such a long way to go, & sometimes, it’s hard to stay motivated. So I look around for inspiration. Fred Bell is one such painter & blogger. He posts pictures of the painting he is working on every day. I can’t even think of that many different paintings, let alone find the motivation to paint every day. It’s definitely something that I want to emulate when I finally grow up as an artist.

Going Green?

greenleaves.jpg

One of my favorite shows on HGTV that aired in the past year was “Living with Ed”. Before this, I hadn’t really though about going green. However, I really started to see that little things add up. Just being considerate of the environment can really make a difference if a lot of people do them consistently.

This can be as easy as buying Pacific Rim furniture. It is made of solid maple with details like dovetail drawers that are the signs of a quality piece that will last a lifetime. Even the finish is non-toxic. Pacific Rim furniture even has a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty. Not only is it eco-friendly, it’s also beautiful. Dax Stores has lots of other great organic & eco friendly products, such as textiles, clothing & bedding. They even have organic mattresses. I don’t know if I’m fully prepared to go green yet, but I can definitely make smarter choices, because I really do believe that the environment needs help & everyone should do their part.

My biggest decorating mistakes

I’ll admit it. There are some decorating ideas that I have had, that just haven’t worked. They didn’t become outdated, they were just ugly from the very second that I finished the project. There was no way to fix them. They just were never good ideas to begin with. I don’t have any pictures of these, (sadly). They include:

Sponge painting a forest green paint over a taupe. It looked like mold & took several hours longer to complete than regular painting. I only lived with it for a matter of weeks. This was a few years ago, & the taupe color that I was trying to get rid of is now very in style.

Painting my entire bedroom ceiling to look like a sky. There was just way too much room for clouds, & it looked messy. Again I painted over it, although I left part of it in a small alcove & it still looks lovely.

Stenciling ivy in the dining room. I thought this might balance out the mold looking walls in the sun room. The two greens didn’t match, & the stencil was much too large & not my style to begin with. What can I say? It was the 90′s.

Eventually, I learned that less was more & that I didn’t have to have every single faux finish known to mankind in my house. Thank goodness. The walls were starting to close in because of all of the layers of paint.

Mattress

grandbed.jpgI love to decorate, hence why I call myself the decorating princess. I also love to save money & replicate designer rooms on a budget by going to thrift stores & yard sales. I get excited by the idea of fixing something up to my specifications for just a few dollars. In turn, I also love my house.

However, there are a few things that I try to go top of the line on, like a good mattress. I have fibromyalgia, which is also called princess & the pea syndrome. I must have a nice mattress, it’s just a necessity for me. I’ve tried several very expensive high end mattresses, some that I’ve liked & some that I haven’t.

I do think that the memory foam seems to work the best for me. I was looking at the Houston furniture store online today & I learned a lot about the Tempur-Pedic mattress, which I haven’t tried, but have been wanting to give them a go. I like that they are sold as a complete set, complete with the pretty bedframe shown above. This combines style, savings, & comfort. It’s not often that I can get everything I love all in the same piece, but this is a perfect example. I just wish that it happened more often.
