My Very First Place

There are some parts of having your very first grownup apartment that just aren’t fun. One of those is when you wake up & you can see a line of ants walking all the way down the hall & out to the kitchen. It’s very scary to not have your parents around to tell you what to do about Pest Control. It’s not like you can just call home & say, “Mom, there are bugs in the house, come & fix it”. Well you can do that, I did. However, that probably won’t work.

Then I was left to discuss with my roommates about whether or not there was such thing as a Queen ant that we had to find. This is why everyone needs to know of a good place to go, like Rose Pest Solutions. I found out that roaches can trigger asthma attacks. So, pests can be more than pesky, they can actually be dangerous. Sometimes the biggest part of being grown is knowing when you need help.

Designer’s Gold Medal

goldmedal.jpg I’m watching “Designed to Sell” & I have to say that Lisa LaPorta impresses even me. Most of the designers on any show have me thinking, “You spent what?”. I can usually replicate their results with say $50. However, Lisa LaPorta has a way of redoing a kitchen, & bathroom with marble & granite countertops, new flooring, paint, lighting, hardware, & then somehow buying a house full of furniture for under $2000. That’s just impressive, give her a medal.

Infomercial Dreams

I was always an odd sort of kid. Everyone else my age seemed to want a dog. I knew that a dog was more responsibility than I could handle. Plus, they would make the house smell bad.

Instead, I wanted a chia pet. I just loved the commercials, & would spend hours dreaming about which ceramic pet I would choose. I guess I always was a decorating princess, & a neat freak. I never got a chia pet. I guess all little kids have dreams that don’t come true. I was at tvproducts4less today, they have all kinds of cool tv products like chia pets, & the Clapper Plus. They even have a cool chia herb garden. It’s time to make all of my infomercial dreams come true.

Take that summer TV!

Summer isn’t usually the best time for TV. However, it’s a great time to catch up on decorating shows that you might have missed during the fall. Plus, there are a few hidden gems out there.

Design Star: Once again, designers try to compete to see who will be the next David Bromstad. Premieres July 22nd.

Ace of Cakes: This show chronicles a bakery that builds extreme cakes. A cake with fireworks? What’s not to love? Duff should marry me. Premieres this Thursday night.

Food Network Challenge: I’m watching an episode right now, again fireworks in cakes, again it’s awesome. It’s awesome every time. Every Single Time.

Never too early

potrack.jpg

If you haven’t noticed, it’s summer which means it’s hot outside, which means I want to be indoors. I have a goal to get started on Christmas early this year so I can actually enjoy the holidays, this means getting the house in order & start to looking into ways to upgrade my home lighting.

I believe that every room should have a chandelier, because they are sparkly & can really be a focal point of any room. However, it’s not always practical, especially in a kitchen. This is where Shop Premier really came through. I’ve never seen a combo chandelier/potrack before, but it’s a genius space saver, especially if you have a small kitchen. I must have this. It’s never too early to start getting the house ready for Christmas, especially when it means I can stay in the air condition.
