Easy Bling Organization

I’m always looking for new ways to store jewelry. It seems like that I have seven or eight jewelry boxes that just don’t cut it. I especially hate it how necklaces get tangled up.

I saw a great idea on HGTV, it was one of those shows about how to live in small spaces. They just took regular suction cups & affixed them to the inside of the medicine cabinet door. Then they just hung necklaces on top of these hooks, it was ingenious. I should’ve thought of it before, but I didn’t. However, it’s an idea I will definitely use.

New Goal

I was very surprised by Todd on “Design Star”. He seemed like such a laid back guy, but he’s really been taking charge. I loved the idea he had to build a skate ramp in the apartment, I’m even more surprised how much the judges liked the idea. I underestimated him, but it’s obvious that he knows what he likes & he isn’t afraid to bring his personality into design. That’s why he has done so well.

I wouldn’t be at all shocked if he incorporated surfboards with future fins into his designs because I think he’s a surfer. I actually really love beach decorating & have always wanted to surf. For me, picking out a surf board is like when I go to buy a car, I want one that is pretty & that works. So I try to go to businesses who can make that happen. I was looking at The Surfboard Warehouse which has a selection of boards & fcs fins, I was really impressed with how beautiful the boards are.

I also learned a lot about surfboards. Clark Foam, who made 90% of the foam blanks that are used to create custom surfboards went out of business in 2005. The industry is still recovering but The Surfboard Warehouse can get the board you want withing 4-6 weeks & they’ll deliver anywhere, even if you need the board while you are traveled. So in cases when I want to make a purchase, but I don’t know exactly what I need, it’s always helpful to go to a company that is knowledgeable. There are definitely a lot of decorating inspirations that can be taken from the beach, such as the bright colors & patterns on these surfboards. More than that, I really want to give surfing a try.

DIY: Bed Rail

When I was a little kid I thought that bunk beds were the coolest. Someday, when I was rich, & had my own house, I was totally going to live in the lap of luxury & have a bunk bed, even though I didn’t share a room. Of course, I’d want the top bunk, & I could have it because again, it would be my room.

Somewhere along the way, bunk beds lost their allure. However, loft beds seem to be quite popular in dorms because you save a lot of floor space. However, unlike bunk beds, these often don’t come with railings. I saw on HGTV how you can just take a big tupperware box lid, put it in a pillowcase, & then tuck it between your mattress & bedframe so it’s a makeshift rail. Although you shouldn’t put tons of weight on it, it might keep you from falling out of bed. Maybe bunk beds are cool again.
