Design star: I thought we got rid of him

Well, it’s finally time to vote on who will be HGTV’s next design star. It isn’t even this hard for me to choose when I’m voting for a President. I guess it’s a different story when I like both of the candidates.

The only sour note on tonight’s episode was when they brought back the previous contestants. I thought that we had gotten rid of Rob for good. I felt bad that Kim had to work with him. Then he switched to Todd’s team on the next day & I felt bad for Todd. Rob was pretty low key though. Kim handled it with extreme grace, I think she should win just for that.

The challenge was to design a hotel suite in Hawaii. Todd’s room was inventive as usual, but it looked more like a four year olds room than a penthouse suite. Kim’s room looked both elegant, unique, & functional. However, she was going to leave this awful gray carpet in the room, I think just because she doesn’t have the carpentry skills. Todd & Kim both have amazing TV personalities, but I don’t know what kind of design knowledge either of them could impart to the average TV viewer. I already know how to shop, I don’t need any help with that. Who did I vote for? I’ll never tell.

Choosing Artwork

A lot of decorating shows suggest that you base a room around your artwork. This is the most difficult part for me because I hate making decisions. I want a Monet & a Van Gogh, & some family photos. Buying prints can be so expensive that I’m afraid to make the wrong choice. As a result, I don’t have a lot of artwork in my house.

This is why I think that a digital picture frame is so awesome. I was shopping at the eframestore & was surprised at how many different varieties there were of a digital photo frame. They even have key chains & necklaces. For decorating purposes, my favorite frame was the Jwin Electronics 7 Inch Digital Picture Frame, because it will match any decor. It also looks like it would make a great wedding present. It’s just $85.99 for a 7″ frame. I have seen a framed print cost that much. Digital picture frames are so awesome because you can easily change the picture. No more struggling to get the back off a frame & then the photo never seems straight once you get into the traditional frame. It’s so much easier with a digital frame. You just have to download the picture you want from your computer using a USB cable, it couldn’t be easier. This means that I will never have to decide on artwork again, I can have it all.
