Every neighborhood has that one house that goes overboard at Christmas. It usually includes lights, Santas, reindeer, & even snow globes,. It’s the kind of Christmas display that you need sunglasses to look at. It always reminds me of Tim the Toolman Taylor from “Tool Time”, just totally over the top. Depending on your neighborhood you might have two of these houses that are in competition with each other. The entire town winces every night because they are afraid that house will cause a power outage.
There has been a huge trend in “going green” lately. This can mean that we will have to cut out somethings completely in order to really help the environment. In other situations, there are ways that we can have our cake & eat it too. For instance, I had no idea how much energy & money Christmas lights used. Not to mention that they can pose a safety hazard.
LED holiday lights use 90% less energy than traditional Christmas lights. LED Christmas lights come with a lifetime warranty & a 50,000 hour bulb life. This means that you will spend a lot less time searching for that one bulb in the strand that needs changing. Plus, these lights are safe & cool to the touch. This means that it’s a lot less likely to cause a fire or an electrical overload. It’s still possible to be “that house” in the neighborhood, but now there’s a way to do it responsibly.
