Does It Even Exist?

No, I’m not talking about true love although I’d like to know that too. Instead, I’m wondering if there are any faucet finishes that don’t leave water spots. I think a brushed nickel might work or a deep iron color; nothing too shiny. All I know that it definately isn’t chrome. Does anyone out there know of any faucet finishes that don’t leave waterspots?

Pool Hunting

On a recent episode of House Hunters the wife was buying a house while her husband was away at war. The husbands’ only basic request was that there is a pool which made sense because they lived in the warm climate of California. Plus, he’d have to become used to hunting down the best pool supply. Usually house hunters have lists of things they want and have to narrow it down and this guy only wanted one thing. He might have wanted a newer home too.

I can see the draw there though. I’ve never had a pool. As a kid I was always swimming in community pools that were usually so crowded that I could hardly swim at all. As an adult it’s just gotten worse with all of the kids around. The thing about actually owning a pool is that you actually get to swim whenever you want instead of waiting for a turn or trying to clear a path. Plus you have your choice of cool pool accessories. Would you buy a home that was older or not in the best condition if it had a pool?

Santa pictures

Author: Dorsey Velasquez

I love taking our kids to see Santa. Every year I take them to the same mall and have their picture taken with the same Santa. It is so fun to look back at the pictures and see how the kids have grown each year and see how their reactions to Santa change each year. When they were babies, they had no reaction and just sat there in his lap. When our son was 14 months old, he was terrified of Santa and the picture that we have is of our son sitting in Santa’s seat while Santa is crouched beside the chair. This year our son is two and I hope he is no longer afraid of Santa, especially because we also have a six month old who probably is going to be afraid of him. My husband thinks that we should not torture the kids by making them sit in his lap, but I think it is a fun tradition, especially when they go to see the same Santa each year. This year I decided to use our clear internet provider to go online and check to see what time Santa would be there each day because last year we go there right before he took his lunch break. Hopefully we will be able to avoid waiting in a long line this year.

Holiday Decor Trends

As the decorating princess one of my favorite trends this year was the use of tiaras and crowns. There were a lot of these printed on porcelain ornaments the same way that we’ve been seeing this on artwork and linens all year. These crowns aren’t the cartoonish pink version that we’re used to for little girls. Instead, it’s becoming a big trend in the vintage style of block prints or stencils. Usually it’s surrounded by French words. I didn’t pick up any tiara ornaments this year, at least yet but I’d like at least one of them for my tree.
