Would You Use Candles?

I was recently watching a show about weddings and there was an elaborate design process going on. The bride had her choice of any centerpiece that she could think of. Money was no object. Of course there were a lot of crystals and elaborate flower arrangements. However, there were also candles. It was one of those tall twig centerpieces and they had hanging candles. Sure, it creates a dramatic effect but all I could think of was that it was going to be a “fire hazard”.

Then I tried to remember all of the other high end wedding centerpieces I’d seen on TV. They all include one of the cheapest elements you can find: candles. In many instances the candlelight is the only thing I would someday be able to replicate on a budget.

I have the same problem when it comes to home design. I love the look of candles but I never light them because it’s just too dangerous and puts me on edge a little bit. I already own one battery version and want to get several more just because it’s so convenient and safe. With the trend of indoor lanterns and a Moroccan style being so popular this has again come up. I bought a lantern but I don’t know how to light it safely. Instead of just letting it turn into clutter I want some smaller LED tea lights. Lighting it up will show the beauty of the stained glass.

I was browsing through Battery Operated Candles.net and really enjoyed the selection. For a party it would be fun to get some LED tea lights that change color . I was also surprised to find that there are several versions with a timer and even a remote. On my existing candle I forget to turn it off a lot so this would be really useful.

I also prefer using Battery operated lights instead of wax candles because I don’t have to worry about the wick. I had several candles so I thought I was prepared for an emergency. Then the power went out. I found out that it took all of the candles going at once to make any difference in lighting. I was also shocked at how quickly the wicks burnt. I will definitely have some batteries and battery operated versions available. I couldn’t easily carry a wax candle around from room to room either. Plus, since I live in a small apartment it makes more sense to have items that are useful as well as beautiful. When the wax candles melt in strange ways or the wicks get bent the candles aren’t pretty enough for display anymore. I definitely want to replace some of my wax candles to battery lights.

Is It a Classic Yet?

I’ve pretty much never considered putting up wallpaper. I can only assume that my landlords really appreciates this. I just know that this always becomes outdated. However, my new favorite look is actually grasscloth. It’s been popular for the last few years so I’m wondering if it’s a classic yet. That way I can put it up without having to worry about taking it down.

Inspiration

One of the things about all of the ways to garner inspiration is that real life is almost always a disappointment now. Even though I’m a renter, I still know what kind of home I want to buy. I also know that the mix of styles that I love so much probably doesn’t exist in real life.

This is one reason I love the idea of a custom home. I was browsing around the site for Franky & Associates Architect INC and there were so many beautiful inspirations. I love the look of a wood paneled library and they’ve done it. I also love archways and court yards and they’ve done that too. I could also cross a spiral staircase off my list. This Custom Home Architect has been in business for the past 16 years. A custom home will be the only way to get exactly what I have in mind.
