Turn your home into a castle on a budget

I love it when holiday decor fits in with the rest of the house.  Since I put up the decorations at Thanksgiving & take them down on New Years, that’s a month & a half of living with the decor, so it better fit my style. Find out Your Holiday Decorating Style by taking my new quiz. The results contain great products & ideas. My result was contemporary. This usually isn’t how I decorate, but around the holidays, I think less is more. What was your result? Leave a comment & let me know.

Our Christmas tree is a hodge podge of ornaments collected over the years & made at school. I love this because every ornament has a story & means something to us. Sometimes, I start to get envious of the glittery matching ornaments & ribbon wrapped trees. However, I still wanted to keep all the ornaments & memories. So we just tied bows out of raffia & it works great with my mom’s country house. This is a really inexpensive way (mere pennies) to fill in the holes or gaps in the tree, plus it lends continuity & you get to keep all your cute ornaments.

Angel TreeWe are a two tree family. We have the regular big tree with all the ornaments & this is where we keep the presents. Then we have a smaller tree we call the angel tree. Every year we get a new angel ornament to remember my sister who passed away. If I could only load my car with possessions, the angel ornaments would be one of the first things to come with me. It is a way to remember without being sad & to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas: religion, family & love. Works for me!
