One of my goals in life is to never be on TV. I do not want to walk into a room covered in hay that was decorated as a surprise & act like it is the thought that counts. I make sure to tell people, “I watch decorating shows because it’s SOMEONE ELSE’S HOUSE, never let any of them inside, do you hear?”. That’s probably why I have all the friends. It’s ok to paint your fingernails orange because it is temporary and an easy fix. However, there are some things you just want to get right the first time like furniture, it’s expensive, and you’ll probably have to live with it for years to come. No pressure. My mom’s room is painted a dark cobalt blue. This took 5 coats of paint and one trip to the emergency room (someone fell off a chair and tore open her foot). It was probably one of the most expensive paint jobs ever once the cost of stitches was factored in. The family has decided that we refuse to ever paint over that room, so it’s a good thing my mom loves the color and has never gotten sick of it. So how can you choose a color palette that is worth stitches and that you will want to keep for years to come? I have heard that greens have the most longevity and are very soothing. Our kitchen cabinets, bathroom, laundry room, dining room and entryway are all different shades of green, and have been for 9 years and we still love them.
