It’s called a headboard not a headbored. While I’m on the subject it’s an amoire, not an armwah, iomire, or any other of your crazy spellings. If you are in doubt just call it a wardrobe. What are the craziest spellings you’ve seen on craigslist?
Inside HGTV
I highly suspect that this is the way that HGTV choses & names it’s shows.
1. First they think of a cool title & then create a show around it. Even if the title is stupid. Even if the show shouldn’t be on TV. Case in point: Blog Cabin. Yes there is a show where they build a log cabin based on designs from a blog. I’m sure this idea was hatched because someone in the break room said “Log cabin? Isn’t that like a blog cabin?” It wasn’t funny then, & it isn’t funny now.
2. HGTV they love their puns. I’m sure that they do so many complete kitchen remodels just so they can say “We got rid of everything & the kitchen sink.”
3. Most of the rooms lately seem to be painted green just so they can joke about being environmentally friendly.
I love HGTV but I liked it a lot better before they got all punny.
Whatever happened to glass coffee tables?
I was just browsing through craigslist & I saw an awesome cherry coffee table for $20. It would easily retail for a few hundred dollars in a furniture store. However, I didn’t buy it, which is unlike me.
I like a coffee table that I can put my feet on. Judging from the low price, so do other people. It seemed like when I was a kid everyone had a glass coffee table. I hated it because I was a kid & couldn’t touch anything. Really, a glass coffee table just seems to take up space. Yes, you can put drinks on it, but that’s about it. Plus, you have to clean the glass & what is the fun in that.
Labor free labor day
For some reason Labor Day always makes me have home improvement guilt. I just feel like I should actually be doing work around the house. I know that’s not what the holiday means. However, It’s just a three day weekend where i could get a lot of things done. Instead, I’ve made a compromise. I’m just sitting around watching HGTV all day. Watching people work is almost as good as actually working.
Why I Hate The Antiques Roadshow
At first glance, Antiques Roadshow seems like a really great idea. They travel all across the country & regular people wait in a very long line to have random stuff from their house appraised. It’s extremely informative. I remember an episode of Will & Grace where Grace & Jack took in a random piece of junk. They wanted to be able to say that they thought it was worth a lot of money then make a sad face on TV when they found out it was worth nothing.
Lately, I find Antiques Roadshow to be depressing. It seems to go like this:
Auctioneer: Tell us about this piece.
Person: Well, it was passed down from my great grandmother to my grandma to my mom then to my. I just want to learn more about it.
Auctioneer: Do you have any idea what it is worth?
Person: I really have no clue, it has tons of sentimental value. I want to give it to my daughter someday.
Auctioneer: Well, it’s worth $183
Person: I had no idea. Where can I sell it?
It just makes me sad to see so many people willing to sell their heirlooms so they can buy an ipod or something. If it was $118,000, yes I’d probably sell it, but other than that Antiques Roadshow just makes me sad.
