Does Anyone Actually…?

Does anyone actually ever implement their Pinterest room designs? I see really great ideas that are usually just too astronomical for anyone to do like adding in a slide instead of a staircase. It sure would be fun though. However, in a way this site just makes me more dissatisfied with my home. It seems like everyone else gets to have so much cool stuff. Then I realize that most people are just like me and pinning ideas that they’ll never use. Does anyone actually get most of their Pinterest projects done?

Easter Baskets for Everyone

Of all of the traditions that I miss from my youth I definitely have to say that the idea of Easter Baskets tops my list. I miss all of the fun pastel colors and small trinkets. Of course we still tend to get Christmas and birthday presents as we get older; but Easter seems to be a forgotten holiday for adults.

This is why I was so excited to see the selection offered at Gourmet Gift Baskets. There are candy and stuffed animal baskets for kids. However, there’s also a selection for adults as well that has dark chocolate and wine, or even packs of gum. In some cases even the “basket” itself is useful by being a watering can. I’m so glad that someone is bringing back the idea of baskets for everyone.

Flooring Options

One thing that always interests me about interior design is what everyone else in the world is doing. I was going through the Robert Inwood Flooring site today and saw the selection of new flooring. There seems to be a wider range of colors than what I’m used to seeing.

The company is located in Wellington New Zealand and also sells vinyl flooring, tile flooring, and secondhand carpet. They also put a big emphasis on safety and if you’ve ever gotten new carpet installed you know how important this is. Plus, they give free quotes. The other thing this company does that I’ve never heard of is 24/7 installation which will come in handy if you run a business. They even move your furniture out and back in for free. It’s nice to see an emphasis on service no matter which country it’s in.

Southern Utah Landscaping

One big reason I didn’t want to move to Southern Utah is the landscaping. However, I love the lifestyle of being able to hike so that won out. Since it is a desert there aren’t a lot of green living things around. Instead, people just have gravel in their front yards and decorate with large boulders instead of plants. It just doesn’t seem to give a lot of useable yard space. Plus it looks cold and boring because it’s in everyone else’s yard too. Since sometimes people may only have one or two trees in their yard it makes sense to show it off with the proper landscape lighting installation.

The one thing that stands out is if anyone actually has grass in their yard. Some people are looked down upon for it because of its impact on the environment in the desert. Plus, it never really looks that healthy especially in the hot summer months. When I do see a house with a lawn though it just becomes a huge visual relief.

I love on the System Pavers site that that they have options for an artificial lawn. A lot of the things that used to be a problem with products in years passed are gone. These included water sitting on top of the turf or it discoloring. This is taken care of by the proper installation of this new product. The Systems Pavers site also has instructions for installing artificial grass.

It not only works great if you live in the desert but there’s lots of other applicable situations. You might want to have your weekends to yourself instead of spending it mowing your lawn. You can finally have it all even if you live in the desert.

Whatever happened to glass coffee tables?

I was just browsing through craigslist & I saw an awesome cherry coffee table for $20. It would easily retail for a few hundred dollars in a furniture store. However, I didn’t buy it, which is unlike me.

I like a coffee table that I can put my feet on. Judging from the low price, so do other people. It seemed like when I was a kid everyone had a glass coffee table. I hated it because I was a kid & couldn’t touch anything. Really, a glass coffee table just seems to take up space. Yes, you can put drinks on it, but that’s about it. Plus, you have to clean the glass & what is the fun in that.
