New Puppies are Cute

Post contributed by Noah Schmidt

My friend just got a new puppy. It is the smallest dog I have ever seen. While I am not an animal lover, I gushed over this tiny creature. He weighs ounces and will only weigh about three pounds at full weight. I think they call the size a teacup but I cannot remember the breed of dog it is. My daughters were never allowed to have dogs because we did not have a fenced in back yard and I just did not, and still do not, want animals in my house. I understand the importance of children having pets, learning to care for them, and experiencing that type of love. I had a dog growing up. It nearly killed me when she died! I recently watched a dog show on television and, when telling my friend about it I could not remember the name of it or on what channel I had seen it. I went to Expertsatellite.com and found it so I could tell her to go in and watch it. I think I may make friends with this little fellow!

Planning for Single Awareness Day

If I know I’m going to be single on Valentine’s Day I try to plan ahead just the same way I would if I was with someone. Then I’m not just trying to get the day over with. I usually buy myself a present. I know some people even order flowers online for themselves. At least then you get to pick the exact blossom you want and one that matches your decor. Serenataflowers.com had several sunflower arrangements. Most florists usually just have one or two. They have modern vases and traditional styles too.

Plus, I can learn about the different symbolism of flowers but I don’t have to follow it. I don’t have to analyze what it means to a relationship. Instead, I can enjoy the flowers for what they are which is beautiful. I had no idea that poppies are an appropriate flower for funerals in many cultures. What are you doing this Single Awareness Day?

Apothecary

I’m obessed with all furniture with the word apothecary in it. I ran across this set that someone on Polyvore created. I don’t know what I would do with all of those little drawers; probably put cd’s in them or something but I’d figure it out.

What Would You Do With a Yard?

This is something that I ask myself a lot because I’m an apartment dweller. I know that a lot of homeowners hate having to take care of a backyard. Instead, I even wish that I had extra acreage. The first thing I’d do is figure out how to make everything in the yard more useful and sustainable. This is because water is at such a premium here. I want to have a vegetable garden instead of lots of unnecessary flowers.

I may even consider getting Chickens for sale. I never thought of this until I saw a reality TV mom do it and then I wanted to investigate Chicken feed and Chicken coops for sale. While visiting the Californiahatery.com site I learned some fun facts about chickens. I can choose between chickens that lay white eggs and ones that lay brown eggs. They also have rare types of chickens like Black Silkies. There’s a guarantee that the chickens will get to you safely. It just looks like so much fun especially if you have kids although I’m sure that it’s lots of responsibility too.

2012 Decor Advice

The big problem with finding the new decorating trends for 2012 is that most of the decor shows are on hiatus so that isn’t an option. Plus, a lot of the decorating trends come from blogging projects that won’t happen or catch on until later in the year. This is why I like to look for trends on shopping sites. For instance looking at yellow curtain panels taught me that color will probably be a big trend this year. Looking for a zebra lamp shade let me figure out that animal prints are still popular but we’re seeing them on drum shades for a modern effect. When I wanted to know what metal finishes were en vogue I just looked at bathroom accessories like wall towel racks.

Become.com is a different kind of search engine. They sort through 3.2 billion pages to bring you the best. It’s also a way of shopping that helps to reduce spam. You can read what other customers have to say to help you get to know the product better before you even buy it. They even have some news results.

When I did a search for bedding it was really easy to narrow down what I wanted. I could choose from store, price, and category. Of course size was an option but I could also sort by color and material too. Finding a gray bed set that would fit my space just took a few seconds with all of these options. So if you’re looking for a totally new shopping experience or just want to window shop without all of the hassles then try a shopping comparison site.
