I’m amazed when I watch the show Friends how many things are still in style even though the show has been off the air for such a long time. Tangerine is the big color for this decorating season as is retro style, tufted furniture, and even velvet. Guess what famous coffee house couch has all of these features? I guess everything old is new again.
Flooring Options
One thing that always interests me about interior design is what everyone else in the world is doing. I was going through the Robert Inwood Flooring site today and saw the selection of new flooring. There seems to be a wider range of colors than what I’m used to seeing.
The company is located in Wellington New Zealand and also sells vinyl flooring, tile flooring, and secondhand carpet. They also put a big emphasis on safety and if you’ve ever gotten new carpet installed you know how important this is. Plus, they give free quotes. The other thing this company does that I’ve never heard of is 24/7 installation which will come in handy if you run a business. They even move your furniture out and back in for free. It’s nice to see an emphasis on service no matter which country it’s in.
Ways to Make an Apartment Feel Bigger
I’m lucky that I don’t live in NYC because my apartment would probably cost thousands of dollars per month there even though it’s on the small side. However, I still find it to be slightly claustrophobic even though my furniture is so simple. I’ve found that if my windows are clean and I get rid of any clutter on the counters it immediately helps. How do you help your apartment to feel bigger?
Apothecary
I’m obessed with all furniture with the word apothecary in it. I ran across this set that someone on Polyvore created. I don’t know what I would do with all of those little drawers; probably put cd’s in them or something but I’d figure it out.
Is Gray Really a Neutral?
Gray is a pretty big color in decorating. People are treating it like a neutral and pairing it with brighter tones such as turquoise. This livens up what would otherwise be a pretty dull color. However, I also find that it’s paired with bright yellow a lot. This makes sense because yellow doesn’t work with a lot of other neutrals. Basic black ends up looking like a bumble bee. However, I would much rather see it placed with other soothing colors like purple. The popular gray and yellow palette is just too jarring for me even though I do own yellow furniture. Do you think that gray meets the neutral definition of being able to match almost anything?
