What Are The Big Decorating Themes?

I was just trying to figure out what the big decorating themes are for this year. It used to be so simple like modern or Tuscan styles. It was obvious and widespread. However, now it’s just way too difficult to tell. People are customizing it more to their space and lifestyles and putting their own take on it. Sure it looks great it’s just makes blogging a lot more difficult. It isn’t easy to copy an entire room style anymore but this can also lead to smaller budgets too.

Tax money

Contributed by Milford Woods

We were talking last night about what to do with our tax money when we get it. We are going to get a pretty good check this year since we bought a house and had a baby. Of course my idea was an all inclusive trip to Mexico and relive our honeymoon. While it was tempting, my husband said now that we are parents we need to make more responsible decisions with our money. He thinks we need to get ADT Anderson. I hadn’t even thought about it but once we started talking about it I realized how much we do need that. I mean if our family is the most important thing to us, shouldn’t we be doing everything we can to protect it? So we called about getting information and they were so nice. They gave us all of our options and we are going to think about it and figure out exactly what we want! I guess it is better if we save the vacation for when our kid is a little older and can actually enjoy playing in the sand.

Will You Decorate It?

I think that Pantone’s new color of the year called Tangerine Tango looks great because I love the color orange. I’m already reading about a lot of bloggers who are saying they won’t decorate with it. It’s not just that it’s orange; it’s such a bold color of orange. It will be difficult to find in a lot of fabric and furniture options because of that. That leaves it as a paint color. I doubt it will catch on the way that a lot of other colors in the years passed have.

Time for a Change

The best and worst thing about living in an apartment is that I can’t make huge changes. However, it’s nice to not have renovations on my mind and as part of my budget. The maintenance is usually someone else’s problem so there’s another plus.

My big decorating project this year is that I’d like a new color scheme in both of my bathrooms. I also want to add some wall decals. I want mural versions that cost about $50-$70 but I think it will help with the fact that I don’t have any natural light in either of these spaces. I would love to be able to have gray walls. However, since I already own all of my furniture that I need for this small space I also can’t bring gray in there either. Since I started out with mostly browns using gray throw pillows or art doesn’t make sense. However, the bathrooms are blank slates where jut new shower curtains, art, towels, and toothbrush holders, along with bath mats is my only chance to finally get this trendy color in my home. I just don’t know if doing the same scheme in two bathrooms will be too similar. I could pick up different accent colors I guess but I still want gray to be the feature. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

2012 Decor Advice

The big problem with finding the new decorating trends for 2012 is that most of the decor shows are on hiatus so that isn’t an option. Plus, a lot of the decorating trends come from blogging projects that won’t happen or catch on until later in the year. This is why I like to look for trends on shopping sites. For instance looking at yellow curtain panels taught me that color will probably be a big trend this year. Looking for a zebra lamp shade let me figure out that animal prints are still popular but we’re seeing them on drum shades for a modern effect. When I wanted to know what metal finishes were en vogue I just looked at bathroom accessories like wall towel racks.

Become.com is a different kind of search engine. They sort through 3.2 billion pages to bring you the best. It’s also a way of shopping that helps to reduce spam. You can read what other customers have to say to help you get to know the product better before you even buy it. They even have some news results.

When I did a search for bedding it was really easy to narrow down what I wanted. I could choose from store, price, and category. Of course size was an option but I could also sort by color and material too. Finding a gray bed set that would fit my space just took a few seconds with all of these options. So if you’re looking for a totally new shopping experience or just want to window shop without all of the hassles then try a shopping comparison site.
